New Policy Regarding Between-Visit ADHD Stimulant Medication Refills
As an alternative to requiring our ADHD patients to attend monthly appointments for ADHD stimulant medication refills, we instead offer stable ADHD patients the option of attending appointments every 90 days with between-visit stimulant refills upon request.
The following protocol replaces the use of the ReScriptMe website for between-visit stimulant refill requests:
- Initiate your refill request by messaging us in the Klara Patient Portal.
Simply state that you’re requesting a refill on your ADHD medications.
(Any additional details will delay your request and should instead included in the Refill Request Form you’ll be sent following your initial request.) - You’ll then be provided with a questionnaire. Once you’ve completed and submitted the questionnaire, your request will be processed.
- Request your refill approximately 3 – 4 business days before the refill due date. We typically process these requests within two business days; however, it may take up to four business days.
IMPORTANT: Regardless of when you submit your refill request, you may not pick up stimulant
prescriptions more frequently than every 30 days after the date you picked up the previous prescription, even if your pharmacy allows it/tries to dispense your medication prior to this date. - Please do not request a refill just before an appointment—refills are included with appointments. If you need a refill within 21 days prior to your scheduled appointment, contact us, and we’ll do our best to reschedule your appointment for an earlier date.
There are no refunds or credits for denied refill requests.
This is without exception. Thus, it is essential to keep in mind the following:
Refill requests will be DENIED if:
- Your provider hasn’t seen you in the last 90 days.
- You are overdue for an appointment, even if it’s less than 90 days after your last appointment. (e.g., If your provider has requested that you return in 2 months, you’re overdue for an appointment if your provider hasn’t seen you in the last 60 days.)
- You are overdue for a drug screen.
- You’re requesting to fill or pick up your prescription less than 30 *(or 31) days after your last fill.
- You have an outstanding or overdue balance.
- Staff or providers have any reason to believe the refill isn’t in your best interest.
- If your refill request is denied for any reason, you’ll need to re-submit the request (and the fee) once the reasons for the denial have been resolved.
Because we are a small practice, we are unable to notify you when your refill request has been processed or answer other questions regarding the request; thus, we’re unable to (and we do not) respond to such questions. For all questions about refill requests, you’ll need to communicate directly with your pharmacy.
Eliminating the use of the ReScriptMe website should simplify the refill request process for you; however, if you need clarification on any of these policies or are unsure whether you should request a refill, please message us in Klara…We’re always more than happy to help you!
Thank you,
The Team at Fairweather Medical Group
